Batu, an Alternative Way to Bromo
The
sacred Bromo volcano is one of the most popular tourism site in East Java. The
name itself came from one of Hindu’s God Brahma. Therefore, in this area lives
the second biggest Hindu community after Bali. As an active volcano, it has the
biggest crater in the whole island. Surrounded with a vast savannah valley and
black sand dessert it offers such an incomparable beauty. There are 3 different
accesses to get to Bromo such as: Probolinggo, Pasuruan and Malang.
As
the second biggest city in East Java, Malang is the most popular destination
for overnight before Bromo. While staying in this city, most people are doing
the city tour around her sister city, Batu. Actually Batu can be a good option
for staying some nights before travelling to Bromo too. Located in highland
about 20km away from Malang, it will offer you relaxing sensation and here some
reasons why:

Batu is located in a vast hilly area, around 1
hour driving away from Malang. Famous with its natural highland area, this town
will provide us with the view of open valley surrounded by hills, with the town

on weekend and holidays, when most of the people desiring to spend their time
here in the high village area, away from the crowded traffic in the city.

Batu is getting bigger with more tourist areas because
of its nature and landscapes. This little town is packed with tourist
attractions such as: paragliding, downhill biking, trekking, traditional
market, floral market, waterfalls, amusement parks, museum, hot springs, zoo,
or even you can pick your own fruits like apple, and also flower or veggies
straight away from the farm. And the important part of this, all in relatively
cheap price.
5. Cheaper
stay.
In Batu, especially at a village called Songgoriti, rooms, home-stays and
villas are spreads along the cliff area of the hills. As one favorite
destination for the backpackers, this village gives various options of nice
